HOW IT ALL STARTED - A NOTE FROM FOUNDER KATHARINA:

“Back in early 2022, I felt isolated and overwhelmed with my (at that point) fairly new double role as a mum and independent business owner. I wanted to take out time for myself and my well-being, and feel “heiter” (German for cheerful/joyful) again but I didn’t know where to start.

I wanted to change the way I felt, and guess what? I did.

In April the same year, I founded the Heiter Society – and things shifted for me: I suddenly found myself surrounded by like-minded women; women who are creative, clever, kind, supportive, and real—women who have had a similar journey to me. I suddenly felt understood. I suddenly had people around me to share creative and fun experiences and workshops with. I suddenly had monthly sessions booked into my calendar that would allow me to learn, experiment, and help me feel happier and energized. On top of that, I soon noticed that I felt calmer, optimistic, and even more resilient to the happenings around me, too.

To me, the society is a safe and heiter haven filled with supportive friends. To me, it is a haven that has helped me get out of feeling isolated and overwhelmed. There’s no bigger joy than seeing our members experience the same now”.

THE MISSION

The aim of the society is to help you find and celebrate joy beyond the pages. By offering a variety of creative and lifestyle sessions, monthly get-togethers, a community chat, regular meditation sessions and bonuses like The Heiter Society Book Club or discounts to in-person heiter events, we would like to enhance and strengthen feelings of Heiterkeit (which is German for joy) as well as the feeling of connection. In other words: we’d like you to feel good.

MORE REASONS TO BECOME A MEMBER

Becoming a society member will help you feel supported, connected & as a part of a tight-knit community. You will calmer, positive, and ready to see and enjoy all the heiter things that are available to you right now. Opposite feelings of Heiterkeit are feelings like loneliness and overwhelm. To work against them, we need to build relationships and true connections. Yes, chatting on social media is fun and can bring joy, but to truly enjoy ourselves is strongly linked to sharing experiences with others. By offering a community, regular gatherings and heiter workshops, we help you to experience more joy, and that with ease: all you need to do is show up. We sort out the rest for you.

Frequently Asked Questions: The Heiter Society Membership

Below, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions to provide you with all the necessary information to make the most out of your society experience.

Q: What is The Heiter Society, heiter’s community membership?
A: Our membership is designed to help our readers find and celebrate joy in everyday life. By offering a variety of creative and lifestyle sessions, we would like to strengthen the feeling of connection and general Heiterkeit (which is German for joy).

Q: How can I become a member?
A: Joining our membership is simple! Just visit our online shop and click on the "Membership" tab. From there, you will see an overview of the different membership tiers and payment forms. We offer monthly payment options (cycles). Select the tier option that suits you and your life situation most and pay securely via our shop. You can chose between Paypal and Credit Card as payment options. Future (automatic) payments will be set as a subscription via Stripe for you. Once your first payment is completed, we will be in touch and give you access to all the features and benefits available to our members. Alternatively, you can become a Heiter Society Patron by setting up a paid subscription on Substack.

Q: How much does the membership cost?
A: Our fees vary depending on the membership tier you choose. The monthly subscription fee for “Patrons” is GBP17, for “Advocates” GBP27 and for “Partners” GBP127.

Q: Can I cancel my membership at any time?
A: Absolutely! We understand that circumstances may change, which is why we offer flexibility to our members. You can cancel your monthly membership at any time by emailing the society support team. Please note that you will have to inform us at least 5 days prior to your next monthly payment. If you fail to inform us within that time frame, we have to ask you to pay for another full month.

Q: When do you run the individual sessions?
A: The majority of our heiter sessions (creative, well-being and lifestyle workshops) are on a Wednesday evening (7.30pm UK time | 8.30pm CET) so that they support you in switching off and doing something for yourself after a long day of work or caring for your loved ones. All get-togethers are held on the third Wednesday of the month (7.30pm UK time | 8.30pm CET). Group consulting and co-working sessions for partners are held on the last Wednesday and Friday of the month.

Q: Where do you run the individual sessions?
A: We use zoom for our all sessions. The workshops are recorded and shared with all members via email afterwards. They are also saved in a private members area on the heiter website that long-term members (after your first six membership months) can access when and as often as you like. So, even if you miss a live heiter workshop, you will be able to watch it (in your own time).

Q: Who are the guest speakers?
A: Our guest speakers are external creatives, coaches and industry experts whose values align with the heiter values. We make sure that what they deliver has substance and is in line with what our members need. What is lovely is that many of the guest speakers are also heiter readers and supporters.

Q: Do I need to join the private community chat?
A: You don’t - but we recommend it! Our online community is not like others: every member is kind, respectful and supportive, and it never gets too loud or overwhelming in there. We use the group for reminders, to celebrate individual members but also share information that you might not get anywhere else.

Q: How can I stay on top of all sessions?
A: We have a dedicated google calendar that is shared with you at the beginning of your membership. All sessions (and the relevant zoom links) will be linked to the calendar on your phone or computer and you never have to worry about looking for them. In addition, weemail all members with updates and news at the beginning of each month, and there are reminders on Substack and our private WhatsApp group too.

Q: Can I share my membership with others?
A: Unfortunately, memberships are intended for individual use only. Sharing your membership credentials with others is not permitted under our terms and conditions. However, we do offer gift memberships, which allow you to share the Heiter Society experience with your loved ones.

Q: How can I contact customer support regarding my membership?
A: If you have any questions or concerns regarding your membership, our society support team is here to assist you. You can reach us via email.

We hope this FAQ section has answered your questions about heiter’s membership programme. Should you require any further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to our dedicated support team.
